Handmade sterling silver pendants for summer

I've started adding more sterling silver pendants to my website.

All my pendants are made from solid sterling silver. They come with an 18" trace chain, or can be bought without the chain.

This is my new double heart pendant, it was added this week. It seems to be a popular one, i've just posted off another one this morning. The hearts are slightly arched, so they sit well against each other.

Another new one, is my Ivy pendant. I offer to make this in different metals if prefered, i use a lot of brass and copper. I do think it looks better in silver though, but everyone has different tastes.

I made this next one, to match some earrings on my website. The droplets are lightly hammered, so they catch the light lovely when worn. Trying to get the same sparkle when photographing, is not so easy to do.

This next pendant , is sold without a chain. It's made using quite a lot of sterling silver D wire, so it's a sturdy pendant.

I have more pendants on my website, and will be adding new ones on a regular basis.

Thanks for taking the time to flick through. :)

New Rhodonite pendant.

I'm in the middle of making some new pieces for my website, hearts of brass.

I'm trying to use up some gemstones that i seem to have collected over time, and never put to good use. The big smoky quartz is one of my favourites, i'm not to sure what i'm going to make with it yet.

These gorgeous pink stones are, Rhodonite.  I love the pink mixed
with the black. The picture makes them look a lot bigger than what they are.  I was going to make rings out of them, but that's all i seem to making these days. So i decided on a pendant.

I don't use bezel to set the stone, i always find it too flimsy to work with.
I use 0.70mm sheet sterling silver, the same as the the pendant background. The silver is lightly hammered, i like this effect when polished up.

I added another piece of hammered silver to the top of the pendant. Just so there was a bit of movement. All the jump rings are soldered, i do this with all my jewellery. There is nothing worse than losing bits off your jewellery.

And this is the finished result, still needs a bit more polishing. This one isn't on my website yet. If you interested in buying one you can contact me lorna_luv@hotmail.co.uk

NEW RINGS

I've been busy making some new rings for my website.  These ones have just been put on today. The others will be filed and polished, then added over the next couple of days.
http://www.heartsofbrass.co.uk/

This is another skinny ring for my collection, i have quite a few skinny/knuckle rings now. It can be worn with plain stackers, i will be adding plain ones for sale.
The gemstone is Brazilian brandy citrine, a lovely colour for summer holidays.

I also do the  same ring with a garnet gemstone, above.  Both these rings sell for just £12.99.

My next ring is a sterling silver band, with a solid brass center.

This is made from sterling silver D wire, 2.30mm by 1.50mm.
The picture doesn't do it justice. It's quite hard to get a good picture of polished brass. The colour always comes out different. I have added child and adult sizes to this ring. So sizes start from B through to U. This ring is £14.99

Handmade double brass heart ring

I've been busy in my work room again. I've been making a hammered band ring with two small brass hearts.  This is the end result. It's on sale for £22.99, any size.

It's made from sheet sterling silver, 0.7mm thickness. The finish is left matt, i thought it looked better this way. I can polish it for any of my customers if that's what they prefer.

The hearts are cut out of sheet brass. I know most people use a piercing saw, but i'm a bit lazy.  :)  Because the brass is soft, i managed to use my metal snips. With the hearts been just over 0.5 cms in height, it wasn't easy to file them.  I often do my hand filing whilst watching the television, so they fell down the side of the sofa more than once!
I lightly hammered the sterling silver band, then soldered the hearts on. I was going to do just one heart, but opted for two.  I may still do an option where you can chose if you want one heart or two.
I use a very fine sandpaper to polish the scratches out of the brass. It's a wet and dry sandpaper, mechanics use it on fine car scratches.
I would normally polish up hammered sterling silver, but i prefered this one left matt.

The ring is now for sale on my website from today

I hope you can find the time to take a look at my work.  I would welcome any feedback or comments.  :)

Handmade skinny and knuckle rings

I've made quite a few skinny rings now, here are some links to them. This one is made from 1.5mm by 1.5mm sterling silver square wire. I sell this one for £15.50

This next ring, was one of my first gemstone rings. It has a real garnet cabochon on it. This sells for £12.50. I have made this in Brazilian citrine which is a lovely shade of yellow. I haven't added it to my website yet.

I have two types of daisy skinny rings. They come in copper and brass. There were meant to be children's rings, but i added adult sizes as well. They look good with two worn together like in the picture. These are only £5.99 each.

This next ring, is a simple cross skinny ring.  I have done this one lightly hammered for one of my customers. It is £15.50.

I do the next ring as a set. It's a small copper heart skinny ring, and a plain one. These are a good buy at £12.50 for a set of rings. The copper goes really well with the sterling silver. I can do the copper heart polished or matt finish.

I will be adding new rings and jewellery all the time so please keep looking. :)
If anyone has any ideas, please leave a comment for me. I like to get constructive feedback.

Bangles for the spring time.

Spring is just around the corner, and bare arms are going to be on show. So here's some of my handmade sterling silver bangles to ponder over.

This cross bangle matches my cross pendant ring. The bangle is all sterling silver, i sell this for £15.99. I keep all my prices as low as possible, for my customers.  I was quite surprised when i was out shopping yesterday. I was in a shop that was selling costume jewellery, that cost more than my sterling silver jewellery.

This was one of the first bangles i ever made. I sell it for £20.99, it's quite a popular one.  It's made from sterling silver 2.30mm D wire. The tag is lightly hammered texture, with a hand crafted brass heart.  I always make my brass hearts slightly longer on the right hand side. I suppose this is my trade mark. :0)

This bangle is a result of one of my friends. He asked if i could make a bangle with a dragonfly, for his wife. I was going to do the dragonfly in silver, but i found that copper stood out a lot better against the silver tag. I sell this one for £23.99.

This bangle, has a lovely hammered heart. All my bangles have the jump rings soldered, so the pendants can't come off. I do the same with my rings. There is nothing worse than losing the charms or pendants. This bangle is £15.99.  I have a matching pendant ring, to go with this.

I will be adding more bangles to my website, so keep a look out.

If anyone has any special style of bangle they would like to be made, feel free to contact me.  lorna_luv@hotmail.co.uk  I get lots of feed back off people through my website.

I've recently started to design some rings for children, after i had a mother contact me. So i made some sterling silver skinny rings, with copper and brass daisy's. Sizes starting from B. I also added adult sizes, because i thought they make a good ring for summer music festivals. Because there skinny rings, two can be worn together. There only £5.99 each.

Handmade sterling silver pendant rings

I tend to make a lot of rings for website, my main ones are pendant rings. I like a the way they jingle about.

This large cross pendant ring, is very popular with my customers. This range of rings can be worn on their own, but they look better with stacker rings.

The picture on the right uses my plain band ring which is £4.99. I tend to wear mine with my hammered stacker rings, which are only £3.00. The mix of smooth silver and the hammered effect, goes well together.

I recently started working with gemstones, so i just had to make some pendant rings with them. It would be rude not to. I love the green fluorite in this one, i think the sterling silver brings out the lovely colour in the fluorite.

More types of gemstones will be added, Lapiz lazuli always looks great with silver i think. I've bought quite a lot of moonstone.  Sunstone was another choice.

With fluorite there is so much variation in the colour, so your not going to get two rings looking the same.

This was the first ring i made with this colour gemstone, i always keep the test pieces for myself. :)

Another popular pendant ring is the hammered heart. I sell quite a lot of these. I'll be adding more to the range, as the the weeks go by. So keep popping by to my website. www.heartsofbrass.co.uk

MY HANDMADE STERLING SILVER JEWELLERY

My interest in jewellery making started about 10 yrs ago. I wanted to do a night course at college, i wasn't really too fussed as to what i would do. In the end i joined an introduction to silver jewellery course. I loved it. It was every Tuesday night for two hours, i could have stayed all night. The course lasted a year, I'd learnt all the basics and made quite a few good pieces over the year.I had bought all the tools and equipment to play about at home.  The next year i couldn't take the class, my work had changed to nights.  Booo!!

After a while i stopped making myself jewellery at home, so i never took it any further.

I left my job the end of last year, so i decided to start making my own jewellery to sell. My husband made me a bench to start me off, and i took over the conservatory with all my equipment.

To test the market i started selling bit and pieces on Ebay, i did quite well but decide i wanted my own website. I have one now with shopify.

Wow! i didn't realise how much i would have to learn. I had to get a domain name, trying to connect that to my website was an ordeal, :)  quite a few swear words flew around the room. I managed it after a few days of research. Hahah.

Anyway, I've been up and running for a few months now. I've started a range of pendant rings, these are my favourite to make.  I add new jewellery to my website all the time. Right now I'm working on jewellery with gemstones. I hope people will take the time to pop over to my website
